Milestones

#1. Made it through the night without medication.
#2. Tied my own shoes.
#3, and I guess this follows in logical sequence. Went for a walk without forgetting where I lived.
Met some new neighbors.
Some Canadians flew down to have their anchor babies.

Don't blame them, the weather is perfect.

Howdy

FINALLY!!!!!!!
Got the surgery done on my left thumb.
It was basically a reconstruction of the CMC joint. That's the joint at the base of the thumb between your thumb metacarpal and trapezium.

That's the simple version of the 250+ word (single paragraph) explanation the doctor gave me for postop reading. In two weeks the stitches come out and I start seeing a hand therapist and get a removable splint so I can do exercises.

The right thumb needs the same treatment but I am probably going to postpone that till September after my fishing trip. It'll probably take the VA that long to agree to do it anyway.

You may have noticed I'm posting a few meals. I'm trying to catch up with Sara. Here's the "Last Supper" that I had last night.
Roasted veggies and a wild rice, onion and soy curls stirfry. No, I'm not going vegan but it would qualify.

Weather was perfect. Just a few cumulus clouds low 70s and beautiful clear, sharp,  bright blue skies. Course I missed it; I was inside all day.

Definitely going for a walk tomorrow; stay warm and keep dodging those tornadoes.

Spring

Dogwood and cherry trees are blooming, crocus are up. And it snowed 10 inches on Mt. Bachelor.
This is why the crocus lasted all of three days.
And you know it is spring when you see the traditional dinner of hamburger patty with fried cheese, cottage cheese and roasted vegetables.

Ahhhhhh Tradition.

This weekend's forecast is for perfect weather; stay warm where you are.

Happy St. Patty's day!

Top of the morning to you.

Looks like my Irish side has sprung out.

Perfect weather outside, think I'll go out and drink some green beer.

Signs of Spring

Season Opener
Was like old home week.

Portland is exploding with color.

A local barber shop introduced me to a local distillery, move over Gentleman Jack.
Chicken/artichoke mozzarella sausage, baked veggies, cottage cheese and dill pickles.  Your typical Spring fare.

Another Spring favorite, Steak w/onions & mushrooms.

Meanwhile, back in Portland< Louis helps prepare the garden. He's using a tracked back hoe and a dump truck to move the dirt around.

The cold frame for the seedlings needs assembly.

A walk in the park near Lewis & Clark.

Then it's back to Bend and the bike.

Because it's perfect spring weather!
