In Denver

Got here in two long days. First one to Salt Lake saw a little snow but no accumulation. Today, through the Rockies; perfect weather and Aspens that were just getting started turning fall colors. 

Got my first look at the Soden Children's mansion. 

I'm lobbying for a rope bridge to the tree. Then we could take a zip line down to the base of the other tree. 

Amy says we may not try for a chicken coop this trip, so I may be off the hook.

At least the weather is perfect. 

Play Structure Done?

It will never be done as there is still a lot of work left on the water works. But that is a ways off, for now we have a roof of sorts. 

First we needed to extend the posts to get some head room. 

This is the way I drilled straight down the middle of each post to use a 12" piece of 1/2" pipe as a connector for the extension. 

Here's the finished extension wrapped with some 1 x 4-1/4 to cover up and strengthen the joint. As I'm sure some of you were guessing, there was fiberglass involved. All the screws can come out but I'll wait till I'm in the mood to putty for that. 

The process was proven then there was a pause for a Timbers game. 

But that's all old news as I know you fans watched on Root Sports. 

Meanwhile, The family is transfixed on the last few minutes of "The Return of the Jedi". 

Later, it was date night and Louis was having a conversation with the good looking kid in the mirror. 

Followed by back seat driving while Nina played "Stack The States". 

The mini trusses were next then I finally got it together and threw a tarp over it for now. 

Custom canvas a possibility in the future. 

I'm lobbying for a real roof with shingles. 

Heading home tomorrow then do laundry and leave for Denver/Branson. 

Weather not perfect here but it is Portland.

Back Home

Drove home from LA this weekend.  Left 104 degrees for high 80's here.  More importantly, left 6 lane (in one direction) traffic on surface streets and a few million assholes behind also.

For some reason there was nothing I deemed worthy of photographing.

We are here for two weeks then off to Portland and Denver and Branson.  Hope to have something to photograph in the meantime.

Have a COW (Central Oregon Woodworkers) gathering tonight so I need to work on the name tag. They understand "work in progress".
