Going West Again

The sale of the homestead progresses well; got the inspection behind us so now just need the appraisal and we'll be in the home stretch, so to speak.

Looks like to go west we must first go east.  We said goodbye to the grand kids and their support unit and tomorrow we head out for Savannah.    We're meeting Jack and Sue Washburne for a few days at the beach.  A lot of relaxing is planned.

Then it will be a dash to Boise.  Well, not exactly a dash, but faster travel than we are used to.  It will be interesting trying to pick the best route around the weather.  We'd like to get onto Interstate 80 at Lincoln and try to get through Wyoming without being buried in the snow or blown off the road.

After visiting with John and Mary Ossowski at their new estate, we'll head for Redmond for some serious house hunting.  That is if things are still going well with the sale of the homestead.  There will be time for visiting with the Teague's (both the Redmond and Alaska branches) and perhaps yet another tour of the Deschutes brewery.

If all goes well we'll be in Portland by the end of the month for my first Timbers game of the season.

Stay tuned, it should be interesting.

Here's to an early spring.

Redmond, here we come

We have the Soldotna house under contract.  If all goes well we'll be closing in the last week of April.

So now we start the various forms of panic.

The current plan is to depart Tallahassee on the 1st of March getting to Portland by the end of the month. Then on to Soldotna by April 9th for two weeks of fun filled packing.  Anyone wanting to get in on the fun sign up soon as I'm sure there will be a rush to join in.

Have fun out there.

Getting Cold Here

Gonna freeze here tonight.  I guess we can stand one freeze a winter.  It will be in the 70s soon enough.

Had Spencer for the night last night.  He informed us that he knows more than us because he knows everything.
Here he is teaching Grandma how to use the iPad.
Then we went to Mollys soccer game.

Someone told me that the #1 export from the USA was refined petroleum fuels.  That seemed odd to me, so I checked at the census bureau's web site and it's true.

Think of all that means.

Tell me again why we need more and more crude.

Drill baby drill!

The Northern Lights

I wonder what ancient civilizations made of the northern lights.  Could only have been the work of the gods.  If you have five minutes, visit the Astronomy Picture of the Day site and view the Aurora 2012 video.  Here's the link.  APOD site

It features time lapse video of auroras and one sunset/rise where the sun moves along the horizon, never quite setting.

If you have never seen them, it is five minutes worth spending.  Actually viewing them in person usually involves finding a clear night in the north; and a clear night in the north means COLD.

Stay warm between viewings.

Meanwhile, back in the last frontier

Here's a couple of thousand words worth of photos.

Shoveling the roof of the Teague estate.  Is Larry wishing for a little more slope on those roofs?
The pretty blue sky just means the temp is probably in the single digits.

Shorts and T shirt weather here; oh well, some one has to show the way.

Hang in there!
